Budapest 10 August

What a sight to wake up to this morning as we docked in Budapest! The magnificent Houses of Parliament was right across the river outside our window.

Today was a great end to our cruise. We left the ship at 9:15 for a bus ride around Buda & Pest. We alighted at places along the way to take photos ending at Castle Hill at the beautiful castle palace. We went inside St Mathias Church which was quite different from most of the others we had seen. We had an hour to explore before we had to be back on the bus to take us back to the ship at 1:00pm. It was another very hot day in the high 30s.

After lunch we packed our bags ready for our departure to Prague at 8:30 in the morning. We then went up to the Horizon Lounge for a while with friends before the final Port Talk. We had a traditional Hungarian menu for dinner tonight followed by traditional Hungarian musicians & dancers. Very enjoyable.

Then came what would have to be the highlight of our time on the Danube – an evening cruise, leaving at 10:00pm. We assembled on the sun deck where we had Blue Danube cocktails while snapping the beautifully lit buildings. We finally headed off to bed for the last time on the ship at 11:30. A fabulous end to our cruise.
